APPSC Assistant Statistical Officer Recruitment 2026
The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has released Brief Notification No. 20/2026 dated 15 September 2026 for direct recruitment to the post of Assistant Statistical Officer in the A.P. Economics & Statistical Subordinate Service. A total of 196 vacancies have been notified.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree with any one of the following combinations:
- Statistics as one of the main subjects; OR
- Mathematics as one of the main subjects, with Statistics as a paper in one or more years as prescribed; OR
- Economics as one of the main subjects, with Statistics as a paper in one or more years as prescribed; OR
- Commerce as one of the main subjects, with Statistics as a paper in one or more years as prescribed; OR
- Computer Science as one of the main subjects, with Statistics as a paper in one or more years as prescribed.
The degree must be from a recognized university/institution as specified in the notification.
APPSC ASO Selection Process
The recruitment examination will consist of a single-level examination, and no Screening Test will be conducted irrespective of the number of applications received. The examination will be held in Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) mode.

Computer Proficiency Test – APPSC Jobs 2026
The notification also includes a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) covering office automation, computers and associated software. The test carries 100 marks and has a duration of 60 minutes.
The detailed notification containing the vacancy breakup, age, community, educational qualifications and other instructions is scheduled to be available on the APPSC website on or before 13 October 2026.
