Age Relaxation

CSIR-NEERI Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process for both Technical Assistant and Technical Officer includes a Trade Test followed by a competitive written examination.

For Technical Assistant

Eligible candidates shortlisted by the Screening Committee will first be called for a Trade Test, which is qualifying in nature. Candidates qualifying in the Trade Test will appear for the competitive written examination.

The written examination consists of:

• Paper-I – Mental Ability Test
• Paper-II – General Awareness & English Language
• Paper-III – Concerned Subject

The final merit list will be prepared based on performance in Paper-II and Paper-III, subject to qualifying the preceding stages.

For Technical Officer

Technical Officer candidates will also undergo a qualifying Trade Test, followed by the competitive written examination. Paper-II and Paper-III will be evaluated for candidates who achieve the prescribed threshold in Paper-I. The final merit list will be prepared based on performance in Paper-II and Paper-III.

Written Exam Pattern

The examination contains 200 questions and the total time allotted is 3 hours. Paper-I has no negative marking, while Paper-II and Paper-III carry one negative mark for every wrong answer.

For Technical Officer posts, the exam standard is Post-Graduation/B.Tech level, depending on the advertised qualification.
