Category-Wise Vacancies
For the six main trades, the notification provides 320 Freshers and 670 Ex-ITI seats with reservation for UR, OBC, SC, ST and PwBD categories. Separate MLT and PASAA vacancies are also included. Candidates claiming SC/ST/OBC reservation must submit the required certificates during document verification.
ICF Apprentice Eligibility 2026
Age Limit
The candidate’s age will be calculated as on 07 September 2026.
- ITI candidates: Minimum 15 years and maximum below 24 years.
- Non-ITI/Fresher candidates: Minimum 15 years and maximum below 22 years.
- SC/ST: Upper age relaxation of 5 years.
- OBC: Upper age relaxation of 3 years.
- PwBD: Upper age relaxation of 10 years.
Candidates must produce the appropriate caste or disability certificates to claim reservation and age relaxation.
Educational Qualification for ICF Apprentice Recruitment 2026
Ex-ITI Candidates
For Fitter, Electrician and Machinist, candidates should have passed Class 10th with a minimum of 50% marks, including Science and Mathematics under the 10+2 system or equivalent, and should possess the relevant National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT of one year or above.
For Carpenter, Painter and Welder, candidates should have passed Class 10th with at least 50% marks and possess the relevant NCVT/SCVT National Trade Certificate.
For PASAA, candidates should have passed Class 10th with at least 50% marks and possess the prescribed IT/Computer-related trade certificate such as Information Technology, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, Database System Assistant or Software Testing Assistant.
Freshers
Freshers applying for Fitter, Electrician and Machinist should have passed Class 10th with minimum 50% aggregate marks with Science and Mathematics.
For Carpenter and Painter, Class 10th with at least 50% aggregate marks is required.
For Welder, Class 10th with at least 50% aggregate marks is required.
For MLT Radiology and Pathology, candidates should have passed Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Important Qualification Restriction
Candidates having higher qualifications such as Degree, Diploma, Engineering Degree or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship are not eligible for the Act Apprenticeship, except MLT candidates for whom the qualification is Class 12th/HSC.

ICF Apprentice Recruitment 2026
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend according to their category.

The notification states that during the second year of apprenticeship training, the prescribed minimum stipend will increase by 10%. For NCVT/SCVT certificate holders, previous training undergone may be considered for determining the minimum payable stipend.
ICF Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
There is no written examination mentioned in the notification. The merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in Class 10th.
In case of candidates having equal marks:
- The candidate who is older in age will be preferred.
- If the dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed Class 10th earlier will be considered first.
For COVID-pass candidates, the notification provides for consideration of relevant Class 9th marksheet/Class 10th half-yearly marksheet duly signed by the Principal.
Freshers can exercise their trade preference, but final trade allotment will depend on merit and availability of vacancies. Once a trade is allotted, a request for change of trade will not be entertained.
Tamil Nadu Eligibility for ICF Apprentice Recruitment
An important condition in this recruitment is that applicants should be residents of Tamil Nadu and/or registered with a local Employment Exchange within the jurisdiction of Tamil Nadu.
The Employment Exchange registration date should not be later than the last date of application.
However, this condition does not apply to wards of Railway employees. Such candidates must produce the required Railway employee identity card/service certificate during document verification.
