The candidate’s age should be 20 to 28 years as on 1 April 2026. Candidates must have been born between 2 April 1998 and 1 April 2006, both dates inclusive.

Educational Qualification SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026

Candidates must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recoॊgnised University or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

Candidates having an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) must ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31 December 2026. Final-year/final-semester graduation candidates may also apply provisionally, provided they produce proof of passing the graduation examination on or before 31 December 2026, if provisionally selected.

Matriculate Ex-Servicemen possessing the specified Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding Navy/Air Force certificate after completing at least 15 years of service are also eligible subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

Local Language Requirement SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026

One of the important conditions of SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 is local-language proficiency. Candidates applying for a particular State/UT must be able to read, write, speak and understand the specified local language.

The local language test will be conducted after qualifying the Main Examination but before joining. Candidates who studied the specified local language in Class 10th or 12th and produce the relevant marksheet/certificate will not be required to appear for the language test.

For example, the notification specifies Gujarati for Gujarat, Kannada for Karnataka, Hindi for Madhya Pradesh, Odia for Odisha, Tamil for Tamil Nadu, Marathi for Maharashtra, Bengali/Nepali for West Bengal and Telugu/Urdu for Telangana.

SBI Junior Associate Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of:

1. Preliminary Examination
2. Main Examination
3. Local Language Proficiency Test (where applicable)

The Preliminary Examination marks will not be added to the final merit list. Final merit will be based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to qualifying the required local language test wherever applicable.

SBI Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern

There will be 1/4th negative marking for each wrong answer in the objective tests. There are no minimum qualifying marks prescribed for individual tests or aggregate in the Preliminary Examination.

There is also 1/4th negative marking for wrong answers in the Main Examination. Candidates must obtain the minimum aggregate marks prescribed by SBI; SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/XS/DXS candidates receive the relaxation specified in the notification.

Local Language Proficiency Test for SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026

Candidates who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10th or 12th and are provisionally selected will have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test. Candidates failing this test will not be offered appointment.

SBI Junior Associate Salary 2026

The SBI Junior Associate pay scale is ₹24,050–1,340/3–28,070–1,650/3–33,020–2,000/4–41,020–2,340/7–57,400–4,400/1–61,800–2,680/1–64,480.

The starting Basic Pay is ₹26,730, which includes two advance increments admissible to graduates. The notification states that the total starting emoluments at a metro such as Mumbai will be around ₹46,000 per month, inclusive of DA, applicable allowances and two additional increments for newly recruited graduate Junior Associates.

Selected Junior Associates will also be eligible for various benefits and facilities such as provident fund, New Pension Scheme, medical facilities, leave fare and other benefits according to SBI rules.
